A life looked back in retrospect
A life looked back filled with regret
A life still living full of dread
Still not sure of the road ahead

If that is the case, you make changes. This is a powerful portrait.
Pearl Studios: Thanks alot Martin. I will be sure to tell her to read your comment.
Power photograph. If life is now that you grew up thinking it would be, you change your life or your thinking.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Kathryn. I will be sure to tell her.
You stop thinking.
Pearl Studios: Thanks for stopping by Funmi.
A great expression here !
Pearl Studios: True. It made it easy to capture.
I don't have the words to express how much I like this photo.
Thanks
Pearl Studios:
the answer is the question. the photograph is the agent of change for the question mark. beautifully done.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Terry.
beautiful wonderful title too
Pearl Studios: Thanks Patrick. The title just sort of came to me.
I'm guessing that's a question every one of us has had to face sooner or later, ChiChi! Out of curiosity, is this YOU? It is indeed a very powerful shot, whoever it is!
Pearl Studios: Hi Ginnie, unfortunately this is not me
Very beautyfull and powerfull shot
Pearl Studios: Thanks Richard.
This a very magnificent picture, very well captured.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Astrid. Love the pic of you, ginnie and scarlet.
A lovely protrait - captures a real depth of feeling. I like it a lot ;o)
Pearl Studios: Thanks blackdog. Dial up man ???? that is soooooo 1980
That is a sweet sweet shot. Love the light (and the great face).
Pearl Studios: Thanks Mike. It is rare I get a compliment on my lighting. Actually an aspect of photography I am determined to improve on. I appreciate you stopping by.
I like your picture and the caption you wrote underneath it. Fits very well.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Kathryn.
Good focusing and depth of field.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Nathan.
this is so intimate, and strong. wow
Pearl Studios: Yeah it is. I tried to make it as intimate as possible. Wanted the viewer to feel the emotion of the subject.
Amazing. This shot in B/W is a great choice.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Allen. I will be shoting more B/W shots in the near future.
Lovely portrait
Pearl Studios: Thanks Chris.
They have all said it and I can only agree, fantastic portrait and perfect title.
Pearl Studios: Thanks Aussie man from the Kangaroo land
It's a lovely picture, very carefully taken and the title fits so very well. Do you notice here eyes? Some of her face might look glum, but not her eyes .. she's thinking what the change could be.
Pearl Studios: I did not notice that initally but I have heard it from one other person as well. Thanks for stopping by Ellie. It is always good to see you.
nice portrait
Pearl Studios: Thanks.
Some eye contact might evoke more emotions. But shots like this work because they don't look posed.
I'll be checking back to see more of your work.
Pearl Studios: Yeah, I think some eye contact could have added a different -perhaps more intimate- feel to it, but I think this picture works on many levesl as well. THanks for stopping by Dave. Look forward to hearing more of your opinions in the future. Hope all is well.
That's such a great expression you captured on her face. I really like the title you chose too--to me, she looks more like she's lost in thought, drifting away with whatever's going through her mind. Very nicely done.
Pearl Studios: Thank you very much Blain. I appreciate your comment. It is quite encouraging.
Like the BW, the DOF, the expression on her face...this is a very nice portrait imho
A penny for your thoughts...;-)
I love the light on both sides of her face, the uncertainty on his face is a challenge... A perfect portrait.
I like the portrait! I think it is the best picture in your collection.
However, I think your caption/poem is leading and ruins the experience. She is pensive, lost in thought (like someone else said), dreaming, contemplating her next move, nervous, uncertain or she could simply be watching an ant crawl by. Each person can look at it and see something very different. Can we not sit in appreciation of the subject's expression, the lighting, the focus, her beauty? Instead, we are prone to thinking/worrying about how pitiful her life has been and what she will do to change it. I think you cease to evoke people true reaction when you tell too much. The title itself "Black Girl Lost" is suggestive but still open to interpretation. The additional caption leads me down the path of thinking negatively and and about only one scenario. Next time, please allow the picture to tell the story, rather than telling it with your (or someone else's) words.
Pearl Studios: hi there,
I understand where you are coming from. I actually struggle with how much information to reveal with the pictures. In my normal state I think the picture should speak for itself since I try to capture moments that "have mouths" for lack off a better expression. I have noticed that some of the people that come to my blog want some background information, while some want none. I will always lean towards saying less. I really appreciate your candor and I invite you to continue to visit my page and always speak with the same honesty you have displayed here. In the future I will think long and hard about how much I reveal. I guess it is safe to say I share your opinion. Cheers.
Lovely portrait. gorgeous woman.
